Brownwood High School is a 3A high school located in Brownwood, Texas (USA). It is part of the Brownwood Independent School District located in central Brown County. In 2011, the school was rated "Recognized" by the Texas Education Agency.[2]

The Brownwood Lions compete in the following sports:
Cross Country, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Powerlifting, Soccer, Golf, Tennis, Track, Softball & Baseball
During the 1960s and 1970s, Brownwood was one of the most dominant football programs in Texas. Under the guidance of legendary coach Gordon Wood, the Lions made the state finals eight times and winning titles on a state-record seven occasions.

Brownwood was a 4A school up until the fall of 2008. It is now a 3A school and in UIL District 5 3A which includes Abilene Wylie, Big Spring, Brownwood, Snyder, Sweetwater.[4]
The Theater Department at Brownwood High School is headed by Larry "Sir" Mathis. He has been at the school for over twenty years taking one break to work elsewhere. He has expanded the department into what it is today. The Theatre Department also includes almost every kind of student; cheerleaders, band members, choir members, and athletes. Larry Mathis has produced several award-winning plays. Amongst the biggest productions include Peter Pan, Ash Girl, and The Mill on the Floss. Donnetta Shelton is Larry Mathis's assistant as well as former student.
